Meet Keynote Speaker: Myra McEntire

Meet the Authors at utopYA is a series of blog posts where we introduce you to all the amazing writers who will be in attendance at the first ever utopYA convention. Some will be on panels, some will be exhibitors, some will be keynote speakers, and all are living the dream.

We asked the authors 5 questions we wanted to know, and hope that you find them informative and entertaining. These authors were hand-picked, so you’ll definitely want to read their amazing books if you haven’t yet. Get ready, because this is only the beginning.

Meet Keynote Speaker: Myra McEntire, The Hourglass Series

Myra McEntire knows the words to every R and B hit of the last decade, but since she lives in the country music capital of America where her lyrical talents go sadly unappreciated, she chose to channel her mad word skills into creating sultry Southern timeslip novels.

But if you catch her at a signing, she can probably be convinced to rap with you anyway.

1. What’s your idea of ‘utopia’?

A place where everyone is well-cared for by people in their community, and everyone’s feelings and ideas are valued.

2. Who influenced you to become a fabulous young adult paranormal author?

L. Frank Baum. The Wizard of Oz had such an impact on my early life, from Dorothy and her hero’s journey to those freaky flying monkeys.

3. Paper or digital media?

I’m a fan of both, but I really love to touch books and keep them close to me. My precioussssssss.

4. Do you have an “end of book” ritual (that you’re willing to share…)?

I usually watch one day of mindless televison, and then clean my entire house. It needs it at that point!

5. What do you hope to get out of UtopYA Con 2012?

I love meeting other book people, getting to know them, and then talking to them about the things they love. (Usually books!)
