Meet The Authors At utopYA: Abbi Glines

Meet the Authors at utopYA is a series of blog posts where we introduce you to all the amazing writers who will be in attendance at the first ever utopYA convention. Some will be on panels, some will be exhibitors, some will be keynote speakers, and all are living the dream.

We asked the authors 5 questions we wanted to know, and hope that you find them informative and entertaining. These authors were hand-picked, so you’ll definitely want to read their amazing books if you haven’t yet. Get ready, because this is only the beginning.

Meet The Author: Abbi Glines, The Existence Trilogy

Abbi Glines can be found hanging out with rockstars, taking out her yacht on weekends for a party cruise, sky diving, or surfing in Maui. Okay maybe she needs to keep her imagination focused on her writing only. In the real world, Abbi can be found hauling kids (several who seem to show up that don’t belong to her) to all their social events, hiding under the covers with her MacBook in hopes her husband won’t catch her watching Buffy on Netflix again, and sneaking off to Barnes and Noble to spend hours lost in the yummy goodness of books. If you want to find her then check Twitter first because she has a severe addiction to tweeting @abbiglines. She also blogs regularly but rarely about anything life changing. She also really enjoys talking about herself in third person.

1. What’s your idea of ‘utopia’?

My utopia would be a place where all the men look like Alexander Skarsgard and walk around with their shirts off. Chocolate is served for dinner and there are libraries on every corner with big large fluffy chairs and waiters who serve you Starbucks frappuccinos for free.

2. Who influenced you to become a fabulous young adult paranormal author?

I started writing young adult contemporary. I always kind of thought that would be all I ever wrote. I wasn’t sure I could actually write a paranormal book. Then, I read The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and I was addicted to reading paranormal. So if anyone gets the credit for pointing me in that direction it would be Cassandra Clare.

3. Paper or digital media?

I’m all digital. My iphone, ipad and Macbook hold most of my world.

4. Do you have an “end of book” ritual (that you’re willing to share…)?

Yes! I go out with all the friends I neglected while writing and we follow the old saying “drink and be merry”

5. What do you hope to get out of UtopYA Con 2012?

As a writer, I hope to soak up knowledge from other writers attending the conference. Most importantly, I hope to meet many of my readers who I’ve gotten to know online. Interacting with readers is always so much fun.
